The content of course
The overall course is referred to as the Sastamala Gregoriana Early Music Masterclass, but it contains many overlapping modules, as described below.
The Evelyn Tubb Masterclass
Evelyn Tubb teaches a vocal masterclass which covers interpretation and characterisation of solo singing, as well as appropriate technical matters. Active participation in this is limited to 16 students, who will have 4 sessions with Ms Tubb during the week. These students are selected on a first-come, first served basis, as well as taking experience, qualifications and professional standing (or potential) into consideration. Those selected will prioritise this class, but are also welcome to take part in ensemble work, and have further individual coaching with the other tutors – as appropriate, in discussion with the course director. All students are welcome to attend as auditors.
Lute Song (including continuo songs appropriate to plucked accompaniment)
Michael Fields coaches singers in lute song and explores the background of the music from a historical and philosophical viewpoint in talks and workshop session. He gives workshops on acting and interpretation as well as daily tai-chi lessons.
